What to gift?

The greatest gift of all is that you come and celebrate with us!

And then, super fun if you want to participate in our very own gift challenges. To be approved, we need photo evidence - shared to your wedding whatsapp group and/or tag us on Instagram

The Challenges:

  • Give Rs. 1,000 to someone in need (a street vendor, cleaner, or elderly person)

  • Tip a service worker double

  • Buy fruits from a roadside seller 

  • Buy something unique that is made in Sri Lanka 

  • Try some Sri Lankan Street Food

  • Learn one Sinhala or Tamil phrase & use it with a local (bonus points if you make them smile 😄).

  • Give someone a genuine compliment! (a stranger, a driver, a waiter, a guest —make it heartfelt).

  • Take a tuk-tuk to somewhere you didn’t plan to go…(Let the driver choose the destination).

  • Eat with your hands (properly). Rice & curry the Sri Lankan way. No cutlery, no fear.

  • Try something you normally wouldn’t eat. No Googling first. Trust the process 🌶️

If you still really want to bring something, feel free to pick one thing from this list of hard-to-find-in-lanka-items for our new home 😄

  • Coffee! We now have a Moccamaster and are ready to brew. 

  • A bottle of Zalo (my mums favourite product)

  • An extension cord with plugs for both UK & Europe (those from lanka burns up it seems..)

  • A bottle of wine (maybe something from your country?)

  • A rubber spatula for Malia’s porridge

  • Grønnsåpe (for that nice clean smell in the house)

  • Kitchen roll holder 

  • A bottle of your local beer 

  • Who can say no to chocolate? (it might melt though)

  • A pop-up toaster or toaster for grilled cheese sandwiches

  • A deodorant for Julius 

  • Potato peeler 

  • Wettex trasor (it’s not a thing here)

  • A ridiculous but practical gadget. Something you secretly love and use more than you should!
